Amplify: Queer Solidarity in Performance

“Amplify: Queer Solidarity in Performance” at Hosek Contemporary this coming Saturday, April 23rd.

“Amplify: Queer Solidarity in Performance” is a platform to present solidarity performance events to raise awareness and funds for the organization “Afghan LGBT”, led by queer activist Artemis Akbary.

This first edition in the “Amplify” series will feature 4 queer Berlin-based performers and activists who are fairly compensated for their work through DISTANZEN Solo/Dachverband Tanz, while all proceeds from ticket sales at donated to Afghan LGBT.

In the wake of an outpouring of care and resources toward Ukrainian refugees, we must once again reflect on which humans are deemed worthy of our attention and support. Afghan citizens, specifically Afghan queer citizens, have been living in dire circumstances since August 2021, and are facing starvation, violence, and abhorrent living conditions. As queer artists, it is our responsibility to use the privilege of our resources to stand in solidarity with our LGBTQIA+ community who are at risk.

TICKETS: 10€ all proceeds to Afghan LGBT
